Description (merchant text, shortened)

Unprecedented Asymmetric Power for Heavy Oil

About the Ion Max

Experience unprecedented power with the Storm Ion Max. A step up in power from the iconic Ion Pro, the Ion Max takes performance to the next level on heavy oil with over 50% more flare potential. Built around the groundbreaking Element Max A.I. Core, it is one of the strongest, most aggressive pieces in the entire Storm lineup.

The Ion Max pairs the asymmetric Element Max A.I. Core with the NRG Solid Reactive coverstock at a 2000-grit finish. The massive ellipse and low-RG asymmetric weight block deliver unmatched torque and control, while the NRG Solid grabs the heaviest oil for a strong, consistent reaction. Gear up with the Ion Series and dominate the toughest patterns.

Understanding the Storm Element Max A.I. Core and Storm NRG Solid Reactive

Storm built the Ion Max for the heaviest oil in the lineup. Specifically, the asymmetric Element Max A.I. Core adds a weighted disk that extends mass along the X-axis, adding over 50% more flare potential than the Ion Pro and delivering unmatched torque, while the NRG Solid cover at a 2000-grit finish digs into heavy volume for a strong, consistent read. As a result, it is the best choice in the Storm line when the oil is heaviest. The full per-weight specifications are listed below.

A Massive, Low-RG Asymmetric Core With Over 50% More Flare

At the heart of the Ion Max is the asymmetric Element Max A.I. Core. At 15 lb it measures RG 2.47, a strong .055 differential, and a .014 intermediate differential (mass bias), numbers that produce heavy flare and a powerful, defined asymmetric motion. An added weighted disk extends the mass along the X-axis, adding over 50% more flare potential than the Ion Pro, one of Storm's most groundbreaking core innovations.

That massive ellipse and low-RG design are built for torque and control on heavy oil. The high differential creates the flare to clear the heaviest volume, while the asymmetric shape drives strongly and continuously through the pins. Because it is asymmetric, layout has a strong influence on the reaction, so your pro shop can tune the pin and mass bias to your game.

A Strong Solid Cover That Digs Into the Heaviest Oil

The Ion Max wraps that core in Storm's NRG Solid Reactive coverstock at a 2000-grit finish. The NRG solid at a sanded surface grabs the front and mid-lane early and hard, delivering the traction needed to handle the heaviest volume, then driving continuously through the pins. Storm rates the NRG Solid as versatile across all conditions, whether shiny or dull, smooth or rough.

That strong, early read is what makes the Ion Max the heavy-oil weapon of the lineup. The NRG solid digs through oil that pushes weaker covers down the lane, and the massive Element Max core turns that traction into powerful, continuous hook. Leave it at the 2000-grit box surface for maximum traction, or polish it up at your pro shop for a cleaner read when the volume drops.
