Description (merchant text, shortened)

A Strong Symmetric Pearl for Medium-Heavy Oil

About the Steel Forge

The Motiv Steel Forge is a strong symmetric pearl built for medium to heavy oil. It pairs the high-flaring Detonator Core with a clean pearl cover, so you get serious backend power with the length and control a pearl provides, all without the layout sensitivity of an asymmetric. Like all of Motiv's high-performance equipment, it is made in the U.S.A.

The Steel Forge pairs that Detonator Core with Motiv's Propulsion MXV Pearl Reactive coverstock at a 5000-grit LSS finish. The symmetric core produces strong flare, while the pearl cover clears the fronts cleanly and stores energy for a strong move at the breakpoint, a powerful, controllable pearl for medium-heavy volume.

Understanding the Motiv Detonator Core and Motiv Propulsion MXV Pearl Reactive

Motiv built the Steel Forge for strong backend power with length. Specifically, the symmetric Detonator Core has a strong differential that produces heavy flare, while the Propulsion MXV pearl cover at a 5000-grit finish conserves energy through the fronts for clean length and a strong move at the breakpoint. As a result, it clears the heads cleaner than a solid and still drives hard on medium to heavy oil. The full per-weight specifications are listed below.

A Strong, High-Flare Symmetric Core

At the heart of the Steel Forge is the symmetric Detonator Core. At 15 lb it measures a low RG of 2.47 and a strong .055 differential, numbers that produce heavy flare and a strong, continuous motion. The low RG revs the ball early, while the high differential supplies the flare to clear medium-heavy volume.

That strength with control is what makes the Steel Forge such a useful pearl. As a symmetric core, it reads the lane predictably and repeats the same shape shot after shot, so you get a strong, driving backend with the forgiveness of a symmetric ball, no layout sensitivity required.

A Pearl Cover for Clean Length and a Strong Backend

The Steel Forge wraps that core in Motiv's Propulsion MXV Pearl Reactive coverstock at a 5000-grit LSS finish. MXV stands for Maximum Versatility: the pearl additive conserves energy through the front of the lane, so the ball clears the heads cleanly, then makes a strong move when it reaches the friction.

That clean-then-strong shape is what makes the Steel Forge work on medium to heavy oil. It gets down the lane cleaner than a solid and still finishes hard, thanks to the strong Detonator core. Leave it at the 5000-grit box finish for clean length, or take the surface down at your pro shop for an earlier, stronger read when the volume increases.
