The Storm Tropical Surge continues that success with two vibrant new scented colorways for 2026, inspired by feedback from bowlers and pro shops who wanted more energy in the entry-level performance category.\n\nBoth new colorways pair the same proven Surge Core with Storm's Reactor Pearl Reactive coverstock at a Power Edge finish, so the reaction is identical: clean, controllable length with a smooth, medium-low flare motion that is easy to throw. The difference is the look and the scent. The Apple / Kiwi / Avocado colorway carries a Kiwi Apple Tart fragrance, while the Gold / Bronze / Medallion colorway carries a Blood Orange fragrance. Pick your paradise. The Tropical Surge is part of one of the deepest new-release seasons in years, which you can see in our 2026 new bowling balls roundup.\n\nUnderstanding the Storm Surge Core and Storm Reactor Pearl Reactive\n\nStorm built the Tropical Surge as an approachable, controllable pearl for lighter oil. Specifically, the symmetric Surge core produces a higher RG and a low differential, which gives the ball length and a smooth, low-flare motion rather than an aggressive, early hook. The Reactor Pearl cover at a Power Edge finish clears the fronts cleanly and makes a gentle, readable move at the breakpoint. As a result, it is one of the easiest reactive balls to control, ideal for newer bowlers, straighter players, drier lanes, and as a fun, scented spare or change-of-pace ball. The 15 lb benchmark specs are listed below; both colorways share the same core and cover.\n\nA Smooth, Length-Friendly Symmetric Core\n\nAt the heart of both Tropical Surge colorways is the symmetric Surge Core. At 15 lb it measures a higher RG of 2.58 with a low .024 differential, numbers that produce length and a smooth, low-flare, controllable motion rather than an early, aggressive hook. The higher RG lets the ball get down the lane cleanly, while the low differential keeps the flare and the backend gentle and predictable.\n\nThat easy, controllable shape is the whole point. The Surge core does not over-react or jump at the breakpoint, which makes the Tropical Surge one of the most approachable reactive balls in the lineup. It reads the lane the same way every time, rewarding accuracy and making it a great fit for bowlers who want length and control rather than big hook.\n\nA Clean Pearl Cover, Now in Two Vibrant Scented Colorways\n\nBoth Tropical Surge colorways use Storm's Reactor Pearl Reactive coverstock at a Power Edge finish. The pearl cover conserves energy through the fronts for clean length, then makes a smooth, controllable move at the breakpoint, a reaction that pairs perfectly with the length-friendly Surge core. What changes between the two new releases is the look and the signature Storm scent: the Apple / Kiwi / Avocado colorway carries a Kiwi Apple Tart fragrance, and the Gold / Bronze / Medallion colorway carries a Blood Orange fragrance. The performance is the same; the personality is yours to pick.\n\nTropical Surge Specs\n\nRG and differential vary by weight. Specifications provided by the manufacturer.\n\nWho This Ball Is Right For\n\n✓Newer Bowlers: An approachable, controllable first reactive ball with length and a smooth, forgiving backend\n\n✓Straighter Players: The low-flare, high-RG Surge core rewards accuracy with a predictable, length-friendly shape\n\n✓Lower-Rev Bowlers: A clean pearl that gets down the lane and makes a gentle, readable move without over-hooking\n\n✓Anyone Wanting Fun: Two vibrant colorways with signature Storm fragrances make it a personality piece for any bag\n\nGood to Know Before You Buy\n\n·Control over raw hook: The lower differential means moderate total hook. For maximum board coverage on heavy oil, step up to stronger equipment.\n\n·Ships polished: The Power Edge finish runs clean and long out of the box. For an earlier read on heavier oil, take the surface down at your pro shop.\n\n·Colors vary: Actual colors vary somewhat from the photos shown; no two balls come out of the mold exactly alike.\n\n·Tiny pit holes are normal: A few tiny pit holes in the coverstock are a normal part of the manufacturing process.\n\n·Sold undrilled: Ships without finger holes, so it can be fitted to your hand and span.\n\nBowlersMart Tips: Where the Tropical Surge Fits in Your Storm Arsenal\n\nWhere It Fits in Your Arsenal\n\nIn the Storm lineup, the Tropical Surge is the approachable, length-and-control pearl at the fun, entry end of the bag. Where a strong solid or hybrid attacks fresh oil, the Tropical Surge gets down the lane on drier conditions with a smooth, predictable move. It pairs naturally below your benchmark and stronger balls, and it doubles as a controllable change-of-pace or spare ball when the lanes open up.\n\nSurface Adjustments\n\nThe Power Edge finish is a clean, length-and-control setup out of the box. Take the surface down with a lower-grit pad for a slightly earlier read on more oil, or refresh the polish to restore length. Have surface changes done at your pro shop for an even, consistent finish.\n\nCoverstock Care\n\nPearl covers absorb oil over time, which dulls the backend. Wiping the Tropical Surge down after every set and deep cleaning periodically keeps its clean length and smooth, predictable reaction consistent over the life of the ball.\n\nEarn points on every Storm purchase through the Striking Rewards loyalty program. Every ball you add to your arsenal builds toward your next reward.\n\nShop With Confidence at BowlersMart\n\nThe Storm Tropical Surge Apple Kiwi Avocado Bowling Ball ships free with no minimum purchase and is backed by our 60-day return policy.
